Batik

Batik techniques have their origins in the Island of Java, Indonesia. Being widely used by textile artists, this technique appears to be most often applied in creation of clothes or other utilitarian items of home textiles. Paintings from natural silk or cotton fabrics dyed using the reservage method are outstanding for the play of brushstrokes and idiosyncratic effect of broken lines and stains.
